4: Choose your font colour
The most important aspect to consider when choosing a colour other than white is the contrast between the font and the background colour. The higher the contrast, the more visible your sign's text will be to passing customers. The text on traditional Eyebright inn signs is hand-painted in gloss white. As with the background colour, you can request any other commercially available exterior grade paint within the £20 quoted below. If you require a specific colour - to enhance a corporate identity for example - Nick Hallard will always endeavour to provide a best-match (an exact match cannot be guaranteed), or to use suitable exterior grade paint that the customer has supplied themselves. The higher price for an Eyebright custom mix for sign writing paint reflects the potential for a custom mix to not 'flow' like standard gloss, requiring more workshop-hours to complete than normal. Exterior grade gloss paint is used with guarantees of up to ten years - the likelihood is that the paint will exceed these conservative estimates.
