pub signs for home bars

The Whitehayes Arms   - a perfect addition to a private pub

Most eyebright pub sign customers own or manage a pub, and the customers who ordered this sign were no exception. They owned their own pub complete with optics, pumps, pool table, dart board and jukebox - in their back garden! As a perfect birthday gift to her partner, the customer commissioned this sign to finish off their project. Home bars and pubs are increasing in popularity, and the subject matter is almost always personalised. Here are two specific pets, with their own personalities and details such as collars and markings, and Nick Hallard worked from a set of around a dozen photographs of the two dogs. See also The Crown Inn, below.

(below left) The Whitehayes Arms is a private pub in the South West of England, It features the owners' dogs, Buster and Marley, in a parkland setting.
(below right) Marley, shown in a rather regal pose. Portraits of individual animals rather than species or breeds are unusual on public inn signs.

The Crown Inn, Somerset   - personal commissions for personal spaces

The new owners of this 3ft x 4ft double sided inn sign adore their Golden Cocker Spaniels, and wanted to incorporate this into the design. The setting was to be an exterior one, and it was a natural leap then to depict the dogs finding the crown in the long grass of a Royal park. Click here for customer's comments.
