This pub sign replaced a rotting sign with a simple image of a similar vessel. The publican was refurbishing the pub, and he felt
that the current inn sign was letting down the efforts he was making inside. A grand, sweeping feel was needed for the image, and a large boat with cannon and billowing sails was requested. The image is completely made
up, and does not exist as an actual vessel, photograph or painted image anywhere other than this pub sign. The pub's exterior signwriting was positioned under the eyebright swinging inn sign, so it was felt the
maximum use should be made of the three foot by four foot space. (below) The Ship Inn in Southwick, West Sussex required an update to their dilapidated sign. A completely new image was created by eyebright, and hand painted in weather-proof,
light-proof acrylics and exterior gloss paint onto marine plywood. As the pub's location is on the coast, and salt and wind play a huge factor in corroding wood, marine ply is a relatively inexpensive option which
ensures a long life for your pictorial pub signAcrylics and exterior gloss paint on 3ft x 4ft marine plywood |
