Pavillion Bowling Club, Worthing, West Sussex
Worthing Pavillion Bowling Club asked Nick Hallard to create an original eyebright
tryptic - three hand painted murals linked by a common theme, but not showing the same scene. They knew they wanted local scenes which reflected the passing of time. After a period of research and consultation with
the club, Nick Hallard
designed and painted these murals. They depict Worthing pier in West Sussex throughout three stages of the twentieth century. A Victorian family exploring rockpools in a sepia effect image, three Spitfires flying over the pier during World War Two (during which time the town elders saw fit to blow holes in the pier to stop the Luftwaffe landing on it), and a grandfather and son, flying a kite during a 1990's sunset.
