opening out walls with trompe l'oeil
This image has been hand painted onto a living room wall
in Sussex, and depicts the view along Devil's Dyke north of Brighton in East Sussex. The owners are ramblers and butterfly spotters, and this is their favourite view along the South Downs Way. It was requested that all notions of the modern age be left out. On the photograph
Nick Hallard was asked to work from this included radio masts, buildings, pylons, cables and telephone lines, as well as jet aircraft trails. The work has been personalised by the inclusion of butterflies and
rare chalkland flowers. As a minor detail, and with the permission of the owners, this includes euphrasia, or eyebright, the inspirational namesake for Nick Hallard's company. |
